Michael Keegan-Dolan and musician Liam Ó Maonlaí come together to create a new production that takes its title from Ó Maonlaí’s 2005 solo album Rian, which means ‘mark’ or ‘trace’ in Irish.
When Michael Keegan-Dolan first heard Rian, he was immediately moved to make dances to it. With Ó Maonlaí, he aims to create a production in which the musicians and dancers share the stage equally, bringing together Fabulous Beast dancers with musicians led by Ó Maonlaí. Ó Maonlaí will combine material from Rian with the music of influential Irish composer Seán Ó Riada. Liam and Michael aim to honour Ó Riada’s life and work through their own forms and experience.
"In the febrile creative mind of Michael Keegan-Dolan, anything is possible"
