Welcome to Las Vegas in 1952, where every mushroom cloud has a silver lining and fallout is your friend.
As the US military proudly tests its atomic bombs within sight of the Vegas strip, tourists are flocking into town to cheer the blasts and see who will be crowned the Miss Atomic Bomb beauty queen.
But in the midst of this euphoria, farm girl Candy’s (Florence Andrews) sheep have mysteriously died, her fashionista friend Myrna (Catherine Tate) is designing clothes for pigs, young soldier Joey (Dean John-Wilson) has deserted the army, and his hapless hotel manager brother Lou (Simon Lipkin) desperately needs an atomic gimmick. In a city controlled by the military and the mob, time is running out for our four friends.
Inspired by the real life bomb tests and beauty pageants of the era, Miss Atomic Bomb is a radiant new musical comedy co-directed by the Olivier Award-winning choreographer Bill Deamer (Top Hat) and Adam Long (The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged).
Miss Atomic Bomb stars award winning star of TV and theatre, Catherine Tate, who is reunited with West End star Simon Lipkin following their critical and audience success in Sondheim’s Assassins at the Menier Chocolate Factory.
They are joined by Dean John Wilson who will take the lead role in Disney’s Aladdin this Summer, Daniel Boys – a finalist in BBC 1’s Any Dream Will Do and the youngest member of the musical dynasty Sasi Strallen.

The theatre is lovely and a very intimate venue, the staff were friendly and the show was just amazing! Hilarious from start to finish.
Gentle fun production, no belly laughs but smiled almost throughout.
Superb show!! Very funny, & very entertaining!! Catherine Tate, and her fellow actors, dancers etc. were brilliant!! Brilliantly performed!! Thank you!! Both my partner, and my daughter, thought the same!! My daughter, has got to write a 'Critique' of the show, for her university course of 'Music, and Musical Theatre', and is really looking forward to doing that!! We Would love to see it again!! It was so nice for a change to be able to sit so close to the performers!! Thank you ALL!!xx??
We thoroughly enjoyed the show, felt really involved in the front row seats.
We bought the tickets on a whim, as they were only £15 for front row seats. Thought it would break up the Easter Bank Holiday, by popping to the theatre. We'd never been to St. James' Theatre before. Great venue, spacious modern bar in the reception area. Quite a small auditorium, compared to some theatres, but the seats were very comfortable, and tiered very well so those behind us still had a great view. The show itself, was far better than I expected it to be. Genuinely funny in places, and the cast all gave great performances. Definitely worth seeing,
Ignore the critics! Flawless cast, content and creativity! Absolutely brilliant!
Really enjoyable show, with good upbeat tunes. Highly recommended.
Fantastic. Brilliant catchy songs, funny script and very talented cast.
Fantastic show with a brilliant sense of humour
Really enjoyed this show despite the "critics" giving it a bit of a hammering.
An energetic ride! Wacky fun and strong vocal performances! Catherine Tate, as always, never stops, but Florence Andrews' voice sparkled as much as her tiara!
The play lacked cohesion, the plot was sketchy at best with a superfluous subplot, and the song lyrics guileless. That said, the cast were talented, although Catherine Tate's American accent wandered to the Antipodes at times, but their sheer ebullience glossed over the flaws in the show. Sugar Daddy was a high point and made the whole show worth the effort for me. The venue was great, with helpful and friendly staff.

Well, that’s that. Miss Saigon, one of my favourite shows, has closed its doors after a spectacular couple of years. I hope Broadway know what an amazing show they’re getting… (If they don’t appreciate it, we’ll happily have it back. Just saying.)
